Followup to CNN - Compassion Forum

If you didn't read the post below, read that one first.

I wrote in that post that Hillary's comment didn't bother me...the more I think about it, it did. Here's the deal. Politics suck. You have to try to be everything to everyone. You have to answer the question in a way that won't offend the one asking. What would have happened if Hillary looked at Eboo Patel and said, "Eboo...if we are serious about poverty, then it is going to require some adjustments and some sacrifices on our part. Are you willing to make that happen?"

Yeah. That wouldn't have gone over very well. So she talks politics. They all do. They find a nice, polished way to answer the question and tell the people what they want to hear. And we, in turn, drink the Kool-Aid.

I hate Kool-Aid.

I am not a Democrat. I am not a Republican. I live in the world of trying to find someone who my beliefs fall most in line with. I am looking for the candidate that is willing to answer the tough questions. I am looking for the one who is ready to go beyond what is comfortable and do what is right.

My aim in this blog is not to create a political controversy. I don't care who you vote for. You should vote your heart. But true change doesn't just happen in the Oval Office. It happens when everyday people like you and I decide to start doing what is right.

Th epolitician you are looking for may be out there, but i'm afraid he/she lacks the money, connections, and lack of integrity it takes to to make it to the oval office.

i guess my point is that i doubt anyone can make it that far in politics without becomming corrupt, owned by big business and/or special interest groups, etc.
