I nearly set a church on fire once. (Not really) But at a fancy meal honoring one of my singing groups back in the day, I got the bread basket too close to a candle. (The basket was lined with paper napkins.) Quite a flash and lots of embarrassing comments followed. I was given my own fire extinguisher for the rest of the evening!
Should also keep them away from toaster ovens. My mom almost burned our house down when I was a kid...you know, back in the dark ages. Well I guess it wasn't that long ago...we did have electricity. :)

Good thought. Towel+stove top=calls to 911. I tried to scorch one myself this week. Maybe it's going around?
That's a way to get lower rent, burn the place down!

good tip!
Wow! I'm glad it wasn't more serious.
Most of my oven mits look like this around one edge. I'm notorious for doing too many things at once, and trouble just finds me.
Glad you're ok!
you've just given me the perfect reason for telling brian i am never allowed in the kitchen.
Tell me there's no exhibit B!
