Fish. Beach. Good.

Today, we got up and went to the Long Beach Aquarium. It was a perfect day. The weather was amazing. I had FREE tickets to the Aquarium, which was Field-Trip free and practically empty. The girls and I had a wonderful time exploring.

We were fortunate to catch several of the interactive presentations where the divers inside the tanks spoke to us and told us what they were doing. Lexi was very concerned for some reason that the "persons" (her name for the divers) were going to take her sunglasses. So anytime we saw the "persons", she would hide her sunglasses. Note her standoffishness...

My favorite part of the day was touching the Sting Rays...The girls liked it too.

The girls wanted to feed the birds in the Bird Sanctuary. I love the way Haley instinctively understands animals. She gently put her hand on the fence, inviting the bird to walk on her arm and eat the nectar.

Lexi took a different approach.

After the Birds, the girls played in the park.

Feeling inspired by the aquarium, I pulled over and decided to spend some time at the beach on our way home. The girls and I played in the ocean for awhile. It was a messy, fun, happy time.

A perfect day.

And perfect pictures for a perfect day. It's quite amazing the way Haley loves animals. And I had to chuckle at Lexi's fear of the "persons" taking her sunglasses. So cute!

What a great day! What an amazing little portfolio of pictures! They are all so beautiful and expressive. We need to start shopping in some vintage clothing shops to find dresses for the girls like the paintings in our bedroom/bathroom. They are looking more and more like the little girl walking along the beach.

I can't wait to re-create that image.

Beautiful pictures. I see Jennifer and Mom beat me to being the first commenter.

Glad you had such a great day together!

BTW, when we bought those paintings, they reminded us of you and Jennifer as children. That's why I think it would be fun to recreate them with Haley, Lexi, and Emily.

Look at you with your snazzy artsy photos lately! Nice job. Those would go great on a SCRAPBOOK! I laughed outloud at Lexi and the thieving divers. Ha!

Oh, I'm trying not to feel envious right now but I am. How fun to live so close to the beach and get to experience all that anytime you want. And to be wearing t-shirts in October ... does it get any better?

It so cool to have the aquarium all to yourself--and for free!!! You get that personal interaction with the experts and that one on one time with the animals. It's like the animals sense the emptiness, and are more receptive to you when you handle them.

I really love the pics, especially the one at an angle with all of the great lines. Thanks for sharing.
